Resources
General Microscopy Information:
- Molecular Expressions' Optical Microscopy Primer has just about everything you need to know to get you started in microscopy and related topics; includes interactive java tutorials
- Nikon's/Molecular Expressions' Microscopy U also has interactive java tutorials, and a lot of good information
- "How does a confocal microscope work?" an easy to understand guide on the basics of confocal microscopy, with helpful illustrations
Spectra Viewers:
- Life Technologies' SpectraViewer a great resource for checking the crosstalk and theoretical emission of your stains against different wavelengths of excitation
- Chroma Spectra Viewer similar in function to the prior resource, differing in layout and selectable dyes
- BD Fluorescence Spectrum Viewer specifically designed for multicolor flow cytometry, yeilds good approximations for included BD cytometers, also has an "any cytometer" output function
- BioLegend Fluorescence Spectra Analyzer a good spectra viewer geared toward flow cytometry, with lots of options
Fluorochromes:
- Fluorochrome Descriptions a handy PDF describing commonly used fluorophores
- Fluorochrome Brightness Chart comparitive brightness of selected fluorochromes, including both their excitation and emission wavelengths and recommended filters
- Fluorescent Proteins for Flow Cytometry a table geared toward flow applications from the Albert Einstein Flow Cytometry Facility
- Olympus Microscopy Resource Center's Fluorochrome Data Table while no table can list every available fluorophore, OMRC's has the most popular ones, providing excitation and emission data as well as a suggested laser lines
Flow Cytometry Resources:
Tools
- FluoroFinder streamlines complex multicolor experiment design process down to three easy steps. Simply select your facility's cytometers, set your markers, and then choose the best available reagents for your criteria.
